Merdeka Portal

An Internal portal on the 51st Merdeka (Independence) celebrations was launched here Thursday to update Malaysians on the festivities that will take place this year.

Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, who launched the portal at Kompleks Kraf here, said as Internet penetration had reached 52 per cent of the general population, the portal was a good medium to convey the Merdeka message to the masses.

Shafie also urged city dwellers and building owners here to start putting up the Jalur Gemilang (national flag) now as the main Merdeka celebration on Aug 31 is just two weeks away.
